A Message that Must Be Said The role that institutions of higher education and scientific research must undertake is the advancement of society in all aspects of life. This requires precise understanding, distinguished presence, and doubled efforts. We fully recognize the importance of opening our university—Al-Farqadain University—to become a beacon of enlightenment and a guiding light that radiates the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and spreads the guidance of the noble Prophet. It also contributes to building a society that holds firmly to science and knowledge, moving toward broad horizons of affection, love, and tolerance, paving the way for a bright future whose light shines across our beloved city of Basra in particular and our country Iraq in general. With this vision, Al-Farqadein University (formerly Basra University College for Science and Technology) was established. With the grace and guidance of Almighty God, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research – Department of Supervision and Scientific Evaluation – approved the founding body at a time when isolation and mere repetition of past ideas have become a form of deliberate intellectual stagnation. Today, the world has become a small village where borders and barriers are fading, and both material and moral walls are collapsing, as a vast wave of information technology spreads following the tremendous revolution in communications. This transformation poses serious challenges to the cultural identity, values, and characteristics of nations and societies. With this awareness, our young college welcomed a distinguished group of highly qualified professors and specialists in scientific and educational disciplines from Iraqi universities to serve as a solid academic foundation, each within their field of specialization. The founding administration worked to design strong and well-structured academic curricula according to the scientific and educational frameworks approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The academic departments include: Pharmacy, English Language, Arabic Language, Business Administration, Beauty and Laser Technologies, Anesthesia Technologies, Medical Laboratory Technologies, Dental Manufacturing Technologies, Forensic Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Information and Communications Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Aviation Technologies Engineering, Health Physics and Radiotherapy Engineering Technologies, and Mechanical Power Engineering Technologies.
